Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Banana was first spotted at the end of April in far southwest Austin, near Dripping Springs. Neighbors stated that it appeared she was abandoned there. She stayed for several days and eluded all attempts to rescue her, then disappeared. One of the children who had been keeping eyes on her affectionately dubbed her Banana Slipper. Why? Because she’s “slippery like a banana and goes missing like your favorite slipper.” A month later and 22 miles away, the slippery Banana reappeared. Our team immediately began plans to secure her. True to her namesake she was slippery and a difficult gal to secure but we succeeded.
Understandably, because of what she has experienced she can be a bit on the fearful side and will need an adopter who is willing to be patient with her. However, she has excelled so much with the help of her fosters! They report that Banana is learning to trust more every day and is extremely sweet and smart! She is very curious and pays attention to everything going on around her. She loves going on leashed walks and hikes and adores being in the water. She has recently learned "regular" dog traits and discovered how fun playing with toys can be! Banana also is learning to love going hiking!
The ideal adopter for this beautiful gal would have a flexible schedule. Banana is crate trained but, she prefers to not be alone for long periods of time. She would also do better having a confident sibling dog who can continue to show her she is safe.
