Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Penny is a 4-month-old, spunky kitten looking for her forever home!
This little ginger lady has a FULL personality with plenty of sass to spare! She walks around like she owns the place, eats like there is no tomorrow, and clearly believes everyone is only here to see her.
Penny loves to play! She has a vibrating squeaking mouse that she likes but can turn anything into a toy. She likes to lounge on her cat tree.
This brave little baby had a rough start to life! Someone took her away from her mom too early (just a couple of weeks old) and then dumped her outside. She may likely be inbred, so has a few quirks like bowed legs but nothing that the vet believed would affect her long term.
Because of her stressful start and lack of “mama cat guidance,” she occasionally will nip when overstimulated as well as sometimes mark her territory. Penny should go to a home with patient, loving people who can help her redirect her energy while making sure she feels confident and loved—with the easing of stress, her coping behaviors should lessen and then end.
This high-energy gal will need plenty of attention and playtime with both humans and other animals! She loves to explore the house and meet all her furry friends, whom she will boop on the nose if they get too fresh with her. Penny also does NOT like to share her food and will growl if other animals approach her bowl while she eats.
This adorable girl would love to be in a lively home with plenty of people and animals to play with. She needs to go home with another Pet Haven cat, or to a home with a confident, older resident cat to show her the ropes and teach her the finer points of feline etiquette. (Penny is fearless around animals and her spicy attitude can be overwhelming to other kittens; therefore, she would do best with a teenage or young adult cat as her forever friend in her new home.)
If you’re ready to add the perfect dash of Ginger to your holiday season, please come help this strong little lady start her new life of comfort, compassion, and love.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.
Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
