My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Faline is a beautiful and petite chihuahua mix that came to Murci's Mission from our partners at SCRAPS. Faline needed the extra support from private rescue because she is EXTREMELY fearful and needs someone who will not force her to be touched immediately and will give her time to decompress and choose to solicit interaction. Faline has an estimated birthdate of 11/16/2021.

If you are patient with Faline and give her some time to get to know you, she becomes VERY affectionate. She absolutely loves to curl up in her foster mom's lap and go to sleep. Faline is a very snuggly girl! She does well with other dogs in the home. Walks are challenging because they are very scary for her. She is constantly terrified that someone or something will pop out and get her. She will growl, due to fear, when she sees a stranger. Faline would be happiest in a quiet home that doesn't have too many exuberant visitors. During her time in her foster home, she has made leaps and bounds of progress with her behavior. This means there is a huge deal of hope for Faline to be able to settle in and become a great pint sized family member.

Anyone expecting to adopt Faline would need to expect that the initial meet and greet will be a hands off experience and there may not be a great deal of interaction. She may take a few cookies but will not be ready to accept petting and holding until she has had a few days to get to know someone. Anyone who is up to the task and wants to give Faline a go should expect to come meet her and listen to the Murci's Mission team explain some safe and escape proof handling techniques, and then be prepared to take her home on a trial basis where we will continue to work together to help you get settled in with her over the next few weeks.

Faline is crate trained and house trained, however, she may have some accidents while learning the routines in a new household. She walks well on leash but will try to bolt away if something scares her. She is alright with other pets who will give her space and not force immediate interactions as she settles in. We recommend children ages 10+ who can be committed to letting Faline approach in her own time. However, she would be very fearful if the child had friends come over that she is not familiar with.

Faline comes spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed.  Her adoption fee is $200 and includes a leash, harness, collar, ID tag, food sample, and medical records.  To be considered to adopt, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and sending in an application.

Thank you for checking out Faline.

More about this rescue

From the day we could talk we told our pets more than we ever told our parents. We took the long route to see the kitty in the window down the street. We stopped even when we were late to pet the dog. We grew up and we saw what the world does to those who can't defend themselves. We are here to change that.

Ethical rescue, including fully vetting every animal and carefully placing them all into homes matched to their physical and mental needs is what we do.

Respecting all life, both animal and human, while retaining an underlying goal of keeping animals in their homes. and fostering a sense of community between local shelters and rescues is how we do it.
