My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kirby is a 4 yr old terrier mix. He was recently returned to Heartland. Owner said they didn't have time for him and he was in a crate too long.

We are still getting to know Kirby, he has done well meeting other dogs. He is available for adoption but we will also love to find a foster home for Kirby to help him feel loved again.

This boy is definitely worth giving him a chance at a new family.

You need to meet Kirby in person to see how cute his eyebrows are.

All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative ( puppies age 7 months and older) and microchipped. A puppy's adoption fee is $200. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards.

All of our dogs, cats, rabbits & ferrets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Small animals are usually not altered. We have adoption applications, a short interview process, and an adoption fee for each animal. All animals (except rabbits & small animals) are up to date on all shots.

We hold adoption events on Saturdays at Petsmart in Mishawaka from 11-3. We also hold other events throughout the year. Heartland Small Animal Rescue Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving South Bend, IN and surrounding towns by taking in homeless pets and adopting them out into loving homes. We also work closely with local shelters to reduce euthanasia rates by pulling animals and putting them in our program.
