Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
From his foster parent- This handsome, slow paced gentleman is more manatee than dog and maybe that’s why i imagine his future home to be filled with leisurely water adjacent activities. Beautiful silver fur, sun rays reflected on fresh water eyes and a margaritaville attitude- he is completely content in any atmosphere. He was stopped several times at Petco for pets (he really is so handsome- i can only imagine what a showstopper he would be with a good bath and weekly coconut oil rubs) and enjoyed the attention without getting overly excited- no jumping or pulling or barking. A small dog barked at him and he was unfazed. I introduced him to my cats and he showed no signs of aggression- mild interest perhaps (however, this was just a quick and controlled one time interaction, we would always recommend monitoring closely when introducing dogs and cats).
The truth is, quite frankly, few things interest Mr. Jack Jack quite as much as treats and his Kong toy. He’s very food motivated and would happily gnaw on a toy/treats for hours but has no problem if you take them away- you won’t get more than a sorrowful look from the most soulful eyes (no growling or food aggression.) Something he’s not fond of? Stairs. Mr. Jack Jack is a little clumsy and life has been a little hard on his body- he has a bit of a difficult time with stairs and needs a little help getting into cars. He’s not a huge fan of crates when they are closed but doesn’t seem to mind being in them at all if they’re open.
Mr. Jack Jack’s placid temperament has made it hard for him to get noticed at the shelter -sweet sleepy shy boy- but i know he could make the best addition to a family who also enjoys the good things in life- being called handsome, good food, a yard for sun bathing, a little treat and many cozy naps.

Their adoption process
Additional adoption info
Orange County Animal Services has hundreds of adoptable pets at any given time. We operate on a first come, first serve basis to give everyone an equal opportunity.
We strive to place every pet in a furever home, which is why the first step of adoption from our shelter is coming to our location and interacting with the pet of your choice. Adoption applications can be filled out at our shelter once interaction has taken place and are not available online.
Once your application is approved, we will ask for payment of the adoption fee.
Standard adoption fees are $55 for dogs and $40 for cats. Ferrets are $40 to adopt. Pocket pets like rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters are $15 to adopt.
We ask interested adopters to please come prepared with photo identification.
We welcome adopters from out of county and state, but do not transport animals. Interaction is still required as part of the adoption process.
