My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Louise is awaiting her spay, and is currently available for Foster-to-Adopt*

Meet Louise, a loving and energetic Collie who's ready to find her forever home!

Louise was found as a stray so unfortunately not much is known about her past.
Since we've gotten to know her during her short time here, she's shown herself to be a beautiful and affectionate dog with a heart as big as her smile. She loves being around people and will steal your heart with her happy wiggles.

With the smooth coat and friendly nature of a Collie and the hard working instincts of an Australian Cattle Dog, Louise is a sweet, loyal and active companion who thrives in environments where she can engage in physical and mental activities, but also enjoys some relaxation and quality time with her human(s), cuddling and getting butt scratches on the couch.

Both the Collie and Cattle Dog breeds are highly intelligent herding dogs, and share many other similar personality features. Both were bred to perform demanding tasks, are alert, watchful and courageous!

Louise's ideal home would be with an active family or an individual who is capable of facilitating the amount of mental and physical stimulation that she requires, along with all the attention and affection that she's so eager to soak up! In terms of other animals, her experience with cats and other pets is unknown, but she does get along well with her pal Thelma! Slow introductions are recommended to ensure a positive experience. With proper guidance and careful introductions, she may adapt well to a multi-pet household!

This girl has a habit of pulling on leash and would benefit from some leash training! Because she is so smart and eager to please, a little patience and consistency will turn her into a fantastic walking partner!

If you're looking for a loving energetic companion who enjoys the simple pleasures in life, Louise might just be the perfect addition to your home! She's ready to settle into a cozy space where she can be spoiled, loved, and cherished for the sweet soul she is.

If you think Thelma could be your perfect match, please fill out an application below!

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
