We got Walter from a shelter in El Cajon around Christmas 2018. He was extremely distraught and scared. The people from the shelter told us they were certain we would return him as he had been placed and returned twice before. They said he came from a household of a hoarder who had upwards of 200 cats roaming around in a small place without care. We took him in and mostly left him be with another cat (Milo), which we had also adopted around the same time. It would be great to find a home for both of them together.
Walter does not like to be touched. He will come for food and sit right next to the feeding hand, however when the hand tries to pet him, he leaves. We have established a procedure however, during which he will let us pet him. He often waits at a bedroom door and leads us to a bed, where he will sit on top of a cardboard box underneath and enjoy to be petted. Sometimes he purrs. We believe the nestled position makes him feel sheltered and secure enough to enjoy even a comb.
