The adoption donation for a puppy/dog is $400; a cat is $125; and a kitten is $150 (higher amounts for pure breeds). If the puppy or kitten is too young to be neutered, we require a spay/neuter deposit of $60 which is refundable upon receipt of proof from your vet. All adoption donations are tax-deductible. Our pets are examined by a veterinarian, spayed and neutered if age appropriate, vaccinated, dewormed, receive flea/tick treatment and microchipped. While many of our animals are kenneled in our facility, many are fostered in loving homes which provides special care and attention - and allows Pet Rescue to expertly match our pets with prospective homes.

More about this rescue

Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization founded in 1982 by volunteer workers who met at a "no-kill" animal shelter. Dismayed at the terrible living conditions of the animals there, they left to establish a rescue group to properly care for cats and dogs in need, and find them safe and loving homes.

Many of our animals are fostered by group members and outside volunteers, while other animals are housed at our facility. The animals come from various places. Some come from owners who are no longer able to care for them. Others are taken from shelters, yet still others (many others) come from the streets. Those rescued from the streets often arrive sick or injured, and are subsequently treated by veterinarians. We have great success finding homes for puppies and kittens as well as older animals and those with special needs (such as blind and handicapped cats and dogs). We pride ourselves on finding the best match between people and pets. We average about 600 adoptions per year!

We are always in need of donations to help us continue our mission - and we could not survive without our wonderful volunteers. We are always in need of more foster homes. We invite you to explore our website to learn more about us! https://www.ny-petrescue.org
