My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lou is an adorable 8-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix puppy with a heart full of love and an endless supply of energy! This affectionate boy is happiest when he's around people, showering them with puppy love and big smiles. Lou has a playful spirit and will need plenty of enrichment to keep his clever mind engaged. He's a perfect match for someone who can provide him with toys like Kongs and puzzle games, as well as long-leash walks to help him burn off energy while exploring his surroundings.

Training is a positive experience for Lou, thanks to his food motivation! He's picking up cues like "sit" and showing great potential, though he'll need a bit more guidance in managing his excitement-especially when it comes to jumping up to say hello. Lou also needs some training with leash walking, as he sometimes pulls and jumps up when something catches his eye. With consistent training, his enthusiastic personality can be channeled into being the best buddy on walks and adventures.

Lou has shown potential for getting along with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine companion. A meet-and-greet with any potential dog siblings would be a great way to ensure a happy match! Lou is still awaiting his neuter surgery, so for now, we're accepting only local applications. If you're ready for a loyal, lively companion who will keep you laughing and brighten your days, Lou could be the perfect addition to your family!

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:
