My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dutchess' story began at a Ford dealership in Hawthorne, where she was found in August with six newborn kittens. Super friendly and presumably abandoned, she had no microchip. Despite efforts to find her guardian, no one came forward. She embraced her role as a loving mama and won everyone over with her sweet and sociable nature. Now that her kittens are grown, this sweet and sociable house panther is ready to find her forever home.

Dutchess is confident and curious, she quickly adapts to new situations and loves being part of the action. A true companion, she’ll follow you from room to room, offering her expert 'supurrrvision' and keeping you company throughout the day.

Her soft, sweet meows are her way of chatting with you, especially when you share stories about your day. When she's not engaging in conversation, she enjoys basking in sunny spots, watching nature, and curling up for cozy naps.

Playtime is a delight with Dutchess—her adorable bunny-like hops while “hunting” her toys will keep you entertained for hours. She’s also food-motivated and thriving in her clicker training sessions, making her a joy to teach and bond with.

When winter comes, she’ll be your personal heater, happily burrowing under the blankets for extra warmth and snuggles. If you're looking for a playful, loving, and interactive companion, Dutchess is the purr-fect fit for you!

Adoption Fee: $125.00

Our adoption fee generally covers everything your new feline friend needs to start their journey with you:

*Spaying or Neutering: Ensuring the well-being of our cats and controlling the pet population.
*Microchipping: A permanent identification method to keep your furry friend safe.
*Vaccinations: Up-to-date vaccines tailored to the specific needs of each cat.
*Fecal Testing and Deworming: A comprehensive approach to intestinal health.
*Viral Testing (FeLV/FIV): Conducted on all adults and most kittens based on their origin.
*Comprehensive Blood Work: For many of our adult cats, ensuring their overall current health.

In addition to all standard treatments outlined above, many of our cats and kittens have received costly treatment for other maladies that result from abandonment or starting life on the streets.

Of course, if you would like to make a larger donation to help cover our care for the homeless cats, we would be delighted. All donations over the adoption fee are tax deductible.

Why Choose Peter Zippi?

At Peter Zippi Memorial Fund, we're not just about adoptions; we're about creating lifelong connections between our feline friends and loving families. Our Adoption Counselors are dedicated to making your adoption experience joyful and memorable.

*We often offer hard-to-place and special needs cats.*

At Peter Zippi, we believe that kittens under 5 months of age thrive best with a feline companion. To ensure their happiness and healthy development, we adopt kittens in pairs or to homes with an age-appropriate resident cat. Growing up with another cat helps kittens learn social skills, provides essential companionship, and encourages active play. We appreciate your understanding and support in giving our kittens the best start in life!

Thank you for considering adopting from Peter Zippi Memorial Fund, where every cat's journey to a forever home begins with support from the community.

More about this rescue

In memory of Peter Zippi, a young man dedicated to the care of animals, The Peter Zippi Memorial Fund For Animals was founded in 1977 by Dr. Alice Villalobos. We have adopted out over 14,000 pets (mostly cats) since then. The fund is run by wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to help those who can't help themselves. The fund sponsors spay/neuter vouchers to qualified persons, and shelter for and adoptions of lost and homeless animals.
