My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Otto!

Sweet, senior Otto was found as a stray up north with no identification. He waited in the shelter to be picked up, but sadly no one came for him. He has now had a vet check up to ensure he is healthy and is awaiting a neuter surgery this week. He has traveled down to meet you and is ready to find his comfy forever retirement home!

Otto is a very friendly, snuggly guy that enjoys the company of humans and loves to go for walks. He is a bit on the rounder side, and is looking for an active companion that will take him out for his daily exercise to help him get to a healthier body condition. He is not a picky eater and is being a good sport about being put on a bit of a diet! He has lots of energy for an older guy and is excited to start his fitness journey, so he can continue to be an active senior.

Otto is well socialized and is comfortable around humans and other dogs. He would likely do well in a household with another dog, pending a successful meet and greet. He will be a great dog for daily walks on the town and will surely become a neighborhood celebrity quickly.

Otto is looking for an adopter that is able to take him to and from his neuter appointment on the north shore on November 29th. Are you willing to give this guy a life of leisure in retirement? Come meet Otto today at the West Van shelter from 12-3pm Tues-Sun!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
