Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
It's getting cold outside! Add some warm fluff to your life!
Snowey is an all around great girl who came to us in November 2024 from our partner shelter in VA.
She's is fully grown at 3 years old and 49 pounds and looks like a spitz mix.
She's an owner surrender whose people couldn't take care of her. (When she arrived, she was suffering from a terrible flea infestation on her back end. This condition has been treated, and her hair is growing back nicely.)
Despite this trauma, during her photo session, she just leaned against people's legs, smiled, and rolled around to help her scratch her back.
Snowey is dog and cat friendly and great on a leash. Though not very treat motivated, we think once she settles into a new home that she'll quickly get that treats are rewards (and taste good too). She's doing well with housebreaking and should just need a little more practice and a consistent schedule.
She's up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She'll be spayed soon.
She's a beautiful girl waiting for a loving family to snuggle with.

More about this rescue
Save The Animals Rescue Team II (S.T.A.R.T. II), started in 1989, is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 status organization dedicated to alleviating the plight of homeless and abandoned companion animals. Twice a week we visit a local pound and take as many adoptable animals as we can. These animals are provided veterinary care, clean living conditions, exercise and socialization.
We work with potential adopters to find that perfect match…..giving them a "fur"- ever home for life. In addition, we educate the public on the importance of spaying/neutering as well as offering low cost options, vaccinations, preventive medications, and proper living conditions for their new and existing pets.
This lifesaving work is critical for many of these unfortunate animals, since their only crime was to be born unwanted. Since our inception, we have rescued and placed over 7,000 dogs and cats.
