My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Ike was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on November 5, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Ike, the Ike of the couch potato world! This senior gentleman is living proof that age only makes you more distinguished. Ike is the perfect companion for someone who enjoys leisurely short walks and cozying up for Netflix and nap time. He's a sweet, easy-going old man, looking for a special person to spend his golden years with. Ike's ideal day includes a comfy spot to curl up and a belly rub or two-he's not too demanding, just seeking a loving home to call his own. Though Ike is in his golden years, he still deserves to be Ike-ing in style! Ike has a long history of being a pet dog in a home. A little dental care, like regular toothbrushing and dental chews, will help him maintain a healthy smile for years to come. And of course, regular vet checkups will keep this sweet guy in tip-top shape. If you're ready to give Ike the care, love, and occasional snack he deserves, he's waiting to be your new best friend. It's Ike your life will be better with him in it! Bring a leash and collar and save a life today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
