My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Spino was brought in by a community member on 11/4/2024, briefly adopted and returned to our care.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Spino, a lively adult dog with a zest for life. He's a self-sufficient canine, not needing constant attention but always appreciative of a good belly rub. During Spino's brief adoption, his previous owner reports that he has some prey drive when it comes to cats and other dogs in his environment. He also has instances of elevated arousal and impulsivity that would be incompatible for households with children under 10 years old or elderly frail people. Spino would do best in a quiet household of small size where he is the only pet and where he can get plenty of attention and exercise. If you would like to meet Spino, say howdy to him at our Escondido campus!

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. This pet is now ready for his new home!

If you would like to meet Spino come to the Escondido Campus.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
