My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carrie is a 2-year-old, 15-pound sweetheart who came to us from a hoarding situation alongside many other little dogs. Despite her difficult start, Carrie is blossoming into a loving companion and shows more confidence every day.

Carrie is a shy girl, but with a little patience and love, she warms up and becomes your best friend. She is great with cats, showing no interest in them and even being a bit afraid of them. A securely fenced yard is a must for Carrie as she has no prior leash experience. While she might enjoy learning to walk on a leash in the future, for now, she needs a safe yard for outdoor time.

Carrie does very well in her crate and is mostly house-trained, with minimal accidents as long as she is taken outside regularly. While she would likely enjoy the company of another dog, it’s not a requirement for her happiness. She thrives in a calm environment and would do best in a home with older children or no children, as she can be skittish around loud noises and quick movements.

Carrie’s greatest joy is giving and receiving attention from her people. With her sweet nature and gentle heart, she will make a fabulous companion for a family ready to offer her the love and patience she deserves. Apply at bcaaofnj.org

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
