My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: NH

Hello everyone! Let me introduce you to the sweetest compact cattle dog I've fostered; Lilac. Her birthday is 1/11/24 and she is 24+lbs. Her energy is medium for the breed, with some days being extra playful and excited. She can be so happy that she jumps when greeting. Loves loves loooves to sit near/ on you for pets. She's like a little magnet with couch snuggles. Will happily coexist and sometimes show the courage to initiate play with my cattle dog. The shelter felt she was  incredibly sweet and friendly too.

Lilac would appreciate other dog's in the home or happily live as an only dog. Both work for her! She may be okay with cats given that she is soft tempered. She is skittish at times when interacting with my dog and when she bumps into things. While Lilac does love the small child in her foster home; her insistent jumpy behavior would be a challenge in a young family environment. We feel that a home without small children will better suit her. Her high food drive should make positive reinforcement training easy! She is crate trained and house training is a work in progress.

Lilac is up to date on vetting amd monthly preventatives. Adopter must be willing to meet near her foster home in Dover, NH. New England adoptions are preferred.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
