My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Po!
This handsome pup is a boisterous mix of German Shepherd, Mastiff, and Great Pyrenees, bringing a unique blend of intelligence, loyalty, and gentle giant potential. At just under 6 months old, Po is full of playful energy and eager to explore the world.
Po's Personality:
* Playful Pup: Po loves to play with toys and enjoys roughhousing with his foster siblings. He's a happy-go-lucky guy who will bring joy to your home.
* Good with Other Animals: Po is social and gets along well with both cats and dogs.
* Learning Quickly: Po is already making great strides in potty and crate training.
* Gentle Giant in Training: With his mixed breed heritage, Po may inherit the protective instincts of his Great Pyrenees and German Shepherd ancestors. He's naturally a bit cautious, which is typical for these breeds.
Po's Ideal Home:
Po would thrive in a home with experienced dog owners who understand the needs of large breed dogs. Ideally, his family should have prior experience with training German Shepherds or Great Pyrenees, as these breeds require consistent, patient training and socialization. An active family who can provide him with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation would be a perfect match.
Important Note: Po is currently teething and exploring the boundaries of the world, which is normal for a growing puppy. He will require ongoing training and guidance to help him develop into a well-mannered companion.
If you're looking for a loyal, energetic, and loving companion with a unique personality, Po may be the perfect addition to your family.

Po’s adoption fee is $425 plus MN tax which covers his neuter, vaccinations appropriate at the time of adoption, microchip and any additional medical care he may have needed while in the rescue’s care.
We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website www.northernlakesrescue.org

Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers across the state of MN. Because of this, we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.

More about this rescue

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals.

We aren’t a typical rescue as we don’t take in dogs and put them in kennels until they’re adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be.

Our journey doesn’t end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles.
