Meet Sadie – A Sweet Little Survivor Looking for Her Forever Home!
Sadie is a precious 8-week-old Australian Shepherd mix, believed to have some Husky in her as well. At just 7 lbs now, she's expected to grow to about 40 lbs as an adult. Sadie's journey hasn't been easy – she was found as a stray in Texas, confused and covered in fleas, with only her littermate by her side.
Sadly, Sadie was placed on the euthanasia list at the shelter due to overcrowding, but thanks to the support of compassionate rescuers, she’s now safe, healthy, and ready for a second chance at life. Sadie has blossomed in her foster home and is now a happy, playful puppy with so much love to give.
Sadie is a smart and silly pup, perfect for a family or individual who enjoys outdoor adventures and wants a loving, loyal companion. She’s also great with other dogs and would thrive in a home with another playful dog or active family.
Now Sadie is heading to Colorado to find her forever family. She’s looking for a home where she’ll get the love, care, and attention she deserves. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a sweet, smart, and spunky pup like Sadie, don't wait – she's waiting for you!
Since Sadie is still a puppy, she’s a blank slate – ready and eager to learn! She’ll thrive in a home where she can receive the time, love, and training necessary to help her become the well-behaved, confident adult dog she's destined to be. With the right guidance, including puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement training, Sadie will blossom into an amazing companion who will form deep bonds with her family.
Every puppy needs a family who can invest in training and socialization as the puppies grows. Sadie will need positive, force-free obedience classes (virtual or in-person) to set her up for success and to ensure she’s a happy, well-behaved pup that can go on adventures and be a joy to have by your side. This kind of commitment pays off tenfold when you have a dog who is not only well-behaved but also an absolute joy to be around.
Training is an adoption requirement of ours, and we are not open to adopting to a home who doesn't have desire to train a new puppy.
Sadie will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. However, she will still need 1 more parvo/distemper vaccines before it is safe for her to walk on public ground.
Extensive new research shows that she is far too young to be spayed at this time. Spay is required to be done before she turns 1 year old (7-8 months of age is recommended) and spay is required to finalize any adoption.
Farfel's Rescue covers the full cost of her spay if our rescue vet is used.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet dog! An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Alfie please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue
We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
