My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sandie is very lovable and sweet.  She showed up with her sister, Sundae, as a stray and was never claimed.  We have no idea about her parents or her previous life, but we do know she's special.  She loves human attention, bully rubs, and just to be at your side.  She is good with cats, other dogs, and kids.  She would make a great family pet.  She has only been outside but has adjusted well to being inside her kennel and does not like to go in her room so she would be easily house trained.  If you would like more information, please go to our website, schspets.org, and complete an adoption application or call our shelter at 870-269-5200 to set up a meet and greet.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
