My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 9 years old
Weight: 33.1kg / 72.9lb

A little bit about Roxie :
- Potential for sharing her home with children as she previously lived with children
- Has lived with multiple dog-savvy cats; potential for cats in home following gradual introductions
- Potential for another dog in home pending successful introduction

The name on everybody`s lips is gonna be - ROXIE!

Roxie is a sweet and spirited 9-year-old Labrador Retriever looking for her forever home. Through no fault of her own, this wonderful senior girl has found herself at the shelter, but she’s ready to share her heart (and her love of fetch!) with a lucky family.

Don’t let her age fool you—Roxie still has plenty of vim and vigor, especially when a ball is involved. She’ll happily chase and retrieve for as long as you’re willing to play! Roxie has lived harmoniously with dog-savvy cats and another dog before, so she may be a great sibling for your resident pets with proper introductions.

While her playful spirit remains strong, Roxie is starting to feel some arthritis in her elbow, so she takes daily pain medication to keep her comfortable. She’s also carrying a little extra weight, and helping her shed a few pounds through gentle exercise and a healthy diet will support her aging joints.

Roxie is a loyal, loving companion who’s ready to bring joy and laughter to a home that will cherish her golden years. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, and devoted friend, Roxie is the perfect match!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
