My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rocky is a lively and affectionate companion who brightens the day of everyone he meets. Known for his friendly and outgoing personality, he adores interacting with people, especially school-age children who frequently visit his home. Rocky is equally welcoming to strangers, eagerly greeting them with tail wags and a desire for pets-he'll even stand on his hind legs at the gate to make sure no passerby misses out on giving him some love. This sociable pup has also shown great manners when meeting other dogs during walks and lives harmoniously with his feline buddies at home, proving himself to be a well-rounded and adaptable family member.

Active and playful, Rocky thrives on activities that let him burn off energy, whether it's chewing on tough toys and bones, enjoying car rides, or watching birds at the park. Despite his enthusiasm, he has a gentle and obedient side, responding well to commands like "sit," "stay," and "come," which makes him a joy to train and interact with. Rocky uses his crate comfortably when left home alone or during overnight stays, but he also loves curling up in his dog bed or occasionally joining his owner in bed for some extra cuddles. With his blend of energy, friendliness, and affection, Rocky is the perfect addition to an active and loving household.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
