My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A FUN & ACTIVE FRIEND FOR YOU:  Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 22 lbs. & needs to lose a little weight

Hello – I’m Howie!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and – it was clear that I had not been well cared for in my previous life for quite a while, and as I was so matted, I needed to be completely shaved.  Boy – do I feel better now!  I was also fed too much and need to lose a bit of weight to be my best!  I’ve started the doggie salt free green bean diet to help with this. I am getting great care while I wait to meet my new family.  Is that you?  Come meet me soon and find out!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no very young kids that I may bump over, and because I am a bit playfully mouthy and take treats roughly.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a very sweet guy with a friendly demeanor.  I am always happy to see the nice volunteers and I look forward to being playful and active with you.  I can be a bit of a tripping hazard, as I zig zag when I walk, so I should not be walked by someone with mobility issues. / My energy level is 5-7.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  I know the ‘sit’ command and would enjoy learning even more – especially because treats are involved.  In fact, I‘m a bit to grabby with them, so my trainer is working on that with me on that. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've been having accidents on the shelter schedule.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like my walks and  regular walks will help me meet my weight loss goals, so … lace up those sneakers and let’s GO! Toys are pretty fun, but I especially love attention and being active with people. I look forward to being a great companion. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I just had a dental cleaning with 3 teeth pulled, so my mouth is fresh again!

I am looking for a home where I will be a much-loved member of the family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Thank you for your patience and support!

You may also call our phone line, 770-272-6888 or email adopt@mostlymutts.org with specific questions about any of our adoptable animals. We do require an interview, references and a contract. Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse

Please visit our website, www.mostlymutts.org for additional information about adopting a new best friend!
