Meet Clover
Clover is a 6-8 year old, 14-lb Yorkshire Terrier mix from NY ACC! His foster family has given him the nickname Nohi (Nowie), because he perked up when he arrived in NoHo. He responds to both well!
He is adjusting very well during his time in Manhattan.
Clover enjoys cuddling, playing with his favorite squeaky toys, snacks, and adventures. He spends his days following his foster parents around, and keeping up with the deliveries. His most important job is to great the delivery drivers with a waggy tail and a little howl. He is eager to learn and also eager to please his humans.
Clover is visually impaired and doesn’t do well with quick movements. He will need a patient family, who will allow him to get to know his surroundings and allow him to get to know them on his terms. Once Clover trusts you, he allows his human friends to groom, hold, and handle him as needed.
He is learning “sit” and working on other obedience training. He has been learning his potty routine and will need continued encouragement to learn to potty outside. He has done well with a routine, but occasionally has accidents. He does well with pads, but due to his visual needs they must be placed in the exact same place. His forever family will need to continue working with him to reinforce and advance the progress he has been making.
Clover is getting more comfortable on leash in the big city and loves taking walks (mostly due to the treats!). He takes a minimum of three walks a day.
Clover is a happy go lucky boy. He’s affectionate, smart, and brave! He is more than happy to sit on the couch with you and binge your favorite shows or take an hour long walk and smell the flowers on the way. Clover is not crate trained. He does become stressed in a crate. However, he doesn’t mind being confined to a gated area. He is not destructive and typically has free range of the home with his foster siblings.
He is tolerant of other dogs, but mostly indifferent. He does need slow introductions and set boundaries. He got along well with his foster siblings within three days of slow introduction.
Clover would be best with a moderately active family. He loves downtime but also is playful and has active moments.
He would be great with a family with older children who can respect his disability. He can be an only dog or live with older dogs who aren’t overly hyper.
He’s truly a four leafed “Clover” on these mirky new York days, and anyone would be lucky to have him.
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Clover is scheduled for neuter on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Should he be adopted before then, his adopters will be responsible for bringing him to and from this appointment. Waggytail Rescue will cover the cost of this neuter appointment but any other vet appointments will be the adopters responsibility.
To apply for Clover, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal.
