Dog Name: Tanni
Breed: Mix
Sex: female
Age: approximately 7 years
Weight: approximately 80 pounds
Medical Needs: none
Housebroken: Yes
Crate trained: Yes, happily goes in on command for a treat. She does get FOMO and voice her displeasure if she feels she's missing out out something fun, and will express great offense if you do not let her out of her crate and greet her as soon as you get home.
Good in the car: has only been in the car once with us, but she seems to love car rides! Will try to jump in a car whenever she sees an open car door. She did try to climb up front so she needs to be tethered in the back.
Good on a leash: She is very strong and pulls and needs a prong collar. Otherwise, she's not bad (unless you see a fox on your walk.)
Energy level: low with bursts of zoomies and playfulness. Her happy hops when she gets excited are adorable. She also enjoys short periods of play with her doggie foster sister and toys. But mostly she wants to lay on the couch with you. She does love her walks as well and would always be happy to go on an adventure with you.
Need a fenced in yard: No
Dog Friendly: She does not do well with in your face or assertive dogs who do not give her space. She can be a little dominant and doesn't back down when any issues arise. She has some resource guarding with food (towards other dogs), but this has not been severe and has been easy to manage. She has had some bumps with her integration in with her foster family's dogs (not solely her fault) but everyone is getting a long much better now with continued supervision. She sometimes sounds vicious when she is trying to play, and that can put off other dogs. Her foster family in Georgia reported that she did very well with small dogs. With a two week shut down and slow introduction she should be able to adjust to living with most other low key dogs.
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, she would be happy to be the center of attention
Cat Friendly? Yes
Kid Friendly: Has not met any kids in current foster home, but her foster family in Georgia reported that she was great and gentle with kids of all ages.
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any age with proper supervision. She is a big girl and could inadvertently knock over a small child and also jumps a little bit when she gets excited.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Tanni is a very sweet and mellow girl. She lived with a family until her owner passed away and she ended up at a "rescue" in Georgia. It's clear that Tanni is used to the good life and enjoys her couch time, head scratches, and treats. She likes to look out the window and keep watch over the neighborhood. Tanni knows basic commands and can be easily redirected when needed. She gets adorable bursts of energy, especially when first let out of her crate, but mostly enjoys cuddling with people on the couch and demanding pets. She loves head scratches, butt scratches, and belly rubs. She has not been destructive at all, but make sure you don't leave any food on the counter in her reach! Overall, Tanni is a wonderful low key girl who will be happy to chill with you at home but is also down for a walk or car ride whenever you are.
