My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile:  Petey is a fun-tastic labradude estimated at 2 years and 45 lbs who patiently waited for freedom for 9 months at a shelter in rural Louisiana. He has been stuck at the Bossier Parish shelter without any interest during that time. Petey caught the eye of our rescue partner, as our rescue partner described him as a happy go lucky well natured boy who was friendly with people and dogs. He earned a one-way ticket to Seattle and we will share more as we get to know him in foster care.

Foster Update:  Petey is a unicorn dog for a family with (dog respectful) kids!   Petey is curious and friendly with new people and dogs on walks and surprisingly doesn't even seem to notice or care about big delivery trucks or mail trucks passing by. He is really good at reading the energy of what's going on around him. When we're moving about the house, Petey likes to bop around with us and bring his toys along to squeak and play. When at home and we're relaxing or cooking dinner, Petey is quick to relax and curl up right next to wherever you are.

Petey has adapted really well to the crate and sleeps in it every night without a peep. He is most comfortable in the crate when he can hear and see that we're home and is still working through some anxiousness in the crate when we leave the house but is getting better each day.

Petey is very sniff-driven and likes to eagerly follow his nose, so we're working on checking in with us on walks. He's excited to see other dogs but is otherwise indifferent to all kinds of loud noises, kids, delivery trucks etc. He happily comes along in the back of the car and quickly learned not to climb over the seats.

He loves his soft and squeaky toys most and like when we throw them around the house for him to pounce on.

He has good recall and knows how to sit, but wiggles his way out of it quickly so he can dance around. Working on having a bit more patience with sit and stays.

Petey is a very loving and patient pup and approaches new people and environments openly and with curiosity. His confidence has grown a lot in these past few weeks and he's very smart and eager to learn, please and perhaps find a pile of pillows and blankets to nustle into for snugs.
