My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by her previous owner on November 22, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Socks, a fabulous feline with a personality as colorful as her orange coat! This sweet girl came in with another cat and got along well with her companion, but she can be a bit standoffish with unfamiliar cats. While she doesn't have any history with dogs or children, Socks is known to be shy at first, hiding from strangers before warming up and asking for attention. She enjoys being pampered with pets, but don't expect her to be a lap cat-she prefers her space and isn't fond of being held. With a name like Socks, she'll certainly keep you on your toes, always ready to pounce into your heart once you earn her trust! Bring a cat carrier and take her home today!

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. Socks is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
