Here's what the humans have to say about me:
McCoy is a special, sweet boy with a sad story. McCoy lived on the end of a tow chain in mud and sewage with no shelter and barely enough food and water to survive. Chain of Hope helped McCoys owner and gave McCoy a dog house, helped him get fixed and vaccinated, and came by regularly with food and treats. McCoy was so shy and scared that we were never able to touch him, over the course of several years of visits. This fall, we found McCoy off his chain, hiding, with an infected wound on his cheek. McCoys owner surrendered him, as he could not pay for the necessary surgery. Chain of Hope was able to provide funds for McCoy to have 2 surgeries on his wound and provide funds for heart worm treatment. McCoy spent several months at Chain of Hope and then came to his foster home. For the first week at his foster home, McCoy hid behind the couch. He had to be led outside on a leash, put on a tie-out for potty time, and led back inside on a leash. After about two weeks, McCoy started to come out of his shell; slowly, because of the kind foster family and their gentle Alpha dog, who taught McCoy about life with a family. Now, McCoy has been in his foster home for about 2 months, and he has come so far! He sleeps in the bed, wags his tail and hops around at mealtime, plays with his foster brothers, sits for treats and loves to go outside for potty time (and then come right back in!) He even likes the park and doggy boarding! McCoy is in EXCELLENT health, up to date on vaccines and flea/heart worm prevention, potty trained, crate trained, quiet, and can be trusted out in the house by himself. He deserves a family that loves him, will rub his ears and snuggle him on the couch. He needs to live with another dog or dogs so that he can have a leader, and his new family needs to be patient with him – it will take him a week or two to adjust. Please give this special boy a chance! He will win your heart! If you would like to meet McCoy please fill out an adoption application at
