My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ready for a new adventure buddy? Look no further than Stella!

This girl has lots of energy to explore and play outside. She can get along well with other friendly dogs and has lived with kids previously. Stella is calm and relaxed at home on the couch when needed to be left alone, as long as she has her exercise needs met. Cattle dogs tend to need lots of enrichment and activities to keep them busy, and Stella is no different! She loves to learn and is very food motivated!

Stella has shown to have a high prey drive with cats and wildlife, and should not live with small animals. She will need to learn good recall and basic obedience with her new family before having off leash adventures. She is a Houdini on leash, and will need a strong leash and harness that she cannot chew through. She loves to play a game of "Catch me if you can", so managing her on leash will be essential before taking her off leash for her safety.

Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Stella's person? Apply today!

TIP: We strongly suggest all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted.

The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting.

Some animals may not be available for public viewing due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors.

Due to the high number of applications, we will only be contacting select individuals to further review their interest. If you do not hear back from us, it is possible that this animal has already found a forever home. You can always call or email to inquire about your application further and our staff will do our best to get back to you when time allows.

Animals cannot be held for potential adopters for more than 24 hours without a legitimate reason.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
