My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rhys, a sweet and affectionate cat who's looking for his forever home! Rhys may be a bit shy at first, but once he feels comfortable, he's a loving companion who craves attention and gentle affection. He enjoys curling up in quiet spots and will often nudge you for pets when he's feeling brave enough. While he may take his time adjusting to new surroundings, Rhys's soft purrs and soft gaze will melt your heart once he knows he's safe. If you're patient and ready to give this shy but sweet boy the love he deserves, Rhys will reward you with years of cuddles and companionship.

We don't know much about his past, Rhys came to us as a stray and he is still learning to trust humans. He loves his treats and they are a good way to make him warm up pretty quickly. Rhys has a lot of love to give the right family. We don't know how he would do with other animals but small children and loud environments would not be the ideal home for him.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
