My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Fairfield, PA
DOB: 01/20/2024

Meet Dallas Blackjack, an 11-month-old bundle of energy and joy. This handsome male Doberman/Giant Schnauzer/Shepherd mix is looking for a forever home where he can embark on adventures and share his zest for life. Not neutered yet, but he will be with us soon.

Dallas is the perfect companion for someone who loves hiking, running, road trips, and all sorts of fun activities. He thrives on being included in the action and needs an outlet for his high energy. Currently, he's walking 2 miles twice a day to keep him happy and healthy.

When it comes to other dogs, Dallas is a pro! He would love to have canine companions in his new home. As for cats, he can live with them—he really wants them to play, but if they're not up for it, he'll admit defeat and just hang out. Dallas adores children and has met kids as young as 2 without any issues. He does still puppy play mouth and can jump, so an older kid home might be best.

Dallas is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained, though he sometimes barks and gets excited if a larger dog passes by. He recently completed a 4-week basic obedience class and has a lifetime membership with Harvard K9, which has already been covered. He will alert if someone is at the door, so between this and his need for yard zoomies, apartments wouldn't suit him.

When a stranger walks into the house, Dallas will bark but eventually calms down. His foster parents are making huge strides with him on confidence and socializing. They've been bringing him out to stores, and people are able to pet him once he gives the okay. As a teenager, Dallas is still learning and needs a strong adopter who can keep him on his current path to success.

This fantastic guy will make a great family member. If you're interested in welcoming Dallas Blackjack into your home, let us know! He promises to bring joy, adventure, and endless love to your life.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
