My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nala is a stunning 1.5-year-old bulldog/retriever mix looking for a loving, experienced dog owner to be her forever family. Through no fault of her own, this sweet girl finds herself at the shelter for the second time. Despite her journey, she remains a well-mannered, eager-to-please companion who will make a wonderful addition to the right home.

Nala is fully kennel trained, house-trained, and knows an impressive list of commands, including heel, sit, down, lay down, in your kennel, go pee, and walk. She's a quick learner who thrives on structure and guidance, making her an excellent candidate for any future training you'd like to explore together.

This lovable pup has a chicken allergy, but it's easy to manage with a chicken-free diet. She adores squeaky toys, considers herself a large lap dog, and absolutely loves cuddling-whether it's on the couch or curled up in bed. Nala is happiest when surrounded by her people and will quickly become a loyal and affectionate companion.

While Nala gets along well with most dogs and even cats, she has had an issue with another dog in the past, so her ideal adopter will have experience and confidence managing interactions. Her history makes her better suited to a home that understands dog behavior and is ready to provide her with a consistent, loving environment.

If you're ready to open your heart and home to a devoted, snuggly, and intelligent companion, Nala is waiting to meet you. She's ready to start the next chapter of her life-will it be with you?

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
