Here's what the humans have to say about me:
They call me Sunshine, probably because I’m basically a happy girl. I’m a medium size red hound that was a former brood dog. I took good care of my many litters, but now it’s my turn for someone to take care of me. I get along with people and dogs, but I get nervous around a lot of dogs, which, I’m told, is typical for a brood dog. I’ve been so busy being a Mom that I don’t have any experience playing or going for long walks or just hanging out with people who love me. But I can’t wait for the day that someone takes me home and pampers me. I would like a home with another dog for companionship. If you’re willing to train me, I know I can become the treasured family companion. You’ll have squeaky toys, plush doggie beds, and Frosty Paws - right?
Sunshine is a total love of a dog. Although she is 8, she has a young personality. She deserves a good home and surely will bring a lot of love to her lucky adopters. Folks who have adopted 'broodies" say they make fantastic dogs. . She is not cat or small dog tolerant.
FOSTER UPDATE:
After years as a brood Mom, Sunshine is finally getting some personal TLC from her foster guardians and loving every minute. She is learning that counter surfing for food and climbing onto furniture is unacceptable. Sunshine mostly sleeps, but has spurts of playful energy when she pounces on her toys. She has a very strong prey drive so it would not be advisable for Sunshine to live with a cat or small dog. Sunshine loves people and seems more interested in people than other dogs. She has not yet been around small children. Initially, Sunshine was a little anxious when left alone, but she has since become more comfortable and her fosters leave a Kong toy to keep her occupied. Sunshine is house trained with no doggie door, rarely barks, and hops right up whenever she hears the leash jiggle. She knows the commands: Heel and Wait.
Sunshine has an adoption pending.
