Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cayenne is a shy, timid, but very sweet, 2 year old Domestic Short Hair that was brought to SCAC when her previous owner had too many animals to properly care for her. Cayenne is looking for a very special home that will have the patience to work with her and show her what it's like to be loved. She is initially very timid and will hide, but once she is comfortable, you will find her making small steps in looking for attention. Her favorite time of the day is breakfast where she is fed her favorite Fancy Feast Pate. You can find Cayenne relaxing in her bed, curled up with her toys. Cayenne enjoys catnip, treats, wet food, little mouse and spring toys. Cayenne is still learning about affection. While she is still learning that being petted and talked to is not the worst thing. We believe Cayenne can live with another friendly feline that will show Cayenne the ropes to being a proper house cat.

When you see an animal in our kennel or cattery that you are interested in, we will ask that you complete some paperwork (our "Adoption Application"). This paperwork must be completed first in order to minimize stress for you and the animals. Our process includes asking questions: asking for veterinary references-particularly when you have other animals at home. This is simply to protect the health of adoption candidates and the pets you already have.

You will have a counseling session with one of our knowledgeable staff members who will fill you in on the history and needs of that animal, and his feeding and exercise requirements. You can ask your counselor any questions about spaying or neutering, housetraining, obedience training, scratching (in cats), veterinary care, how to deal with fleas and ticks, and anything else you can think of.

If you are approved to adopt, you will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee. This fee covers spaying or neutering, and the veterinary care, deworming and vaccines your pet has received at the shelter.

Our shelter is located at 1779 VT Route 7A in Arlington, Vermont. The facility is a single-story building with parking in front. Look for out colorful logo out front. We are open to the public:
TUESDAY 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.;
WEDNESDAY 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.;
THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
