My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey, Shamrock here!  I can't believe I've been in a foster home for 6 months! But time does fly when you're having fun! While I know they love having me around, I'm ready for my furever family so they can continue helping other homeless pups!
I'm 1.5 years old and 65 pounds. My foster family says I'm a smart, handsome, loving boy. I know sit, down, stay, wait, off, go pee and kiss. I love to play tug and my favorite toy is a ball.
I am good in the car but I hate windshield wipers.

Swimming, snuggling on the sofa and hanging out with my foster fam are also favorite pastimes. I am house broken, do not resource guard, and am oh-so-gentle when taking treats.
I have been friendly with dogs we meet on our walks and if you already have a dog I would love a meeting to see how we get along. I am learning to keep my feet on the ground but I still get excited when I meet new people so you'll need to be patient with me.
Will you please give me a chance at a forever home? If you'll give me time to settle in and get to know you, I promise you'll fall in love with me, maybe as much as my foster family has!

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
