My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gene had been looking for a home for 189 DAYS!!!

We found him wandering the streets of phoenix, lost and heat exhausted. Once we caught him, we realized he was in a lot of danger. He had a VERY large Perianal Hernia.

Once we got him the lifesaving surgery he needed, he went from lethargic and slow, to a quick and HUNGRY senior raccoon! This kid would eat a 20lb bag of food if you let him!

Gene is the most cuddly dog in the rescue. He sleeps in his fosters arms every night!

He does great with other dogs that are respectful of him. For a senior, he can still catch some speed and trot around the house, it's the most darling sight. When he's inside, he wears belly bands to prevent marking. Gene is the leader of our Diaper Gang!

Gene is now healthy and ready for adoption! Interested? Fill out an application for him here:

More about this rescue

Handover Rover is a no-kill rescue that focuses it’s efforts on helping animals that are forgotten, left for dead, abused, neglected, chained up, the ones that are in the worst conditions imaginable. We provide a massive amount of free content to help owners train their own dogs, so they don't feel the need to give them up. And we document everything for the public, from training our rescues to our rescue missions.
