My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Diddley is a wonderful 5 year old brindle boy. He is a bit shy when he first meets new people but once he knows you, he is your best friend. He is housebroken and sleeps in his crate at night and during the day he hangs around the house on any available dog bed. He is very good with the two dogs in his foster home and plays and runs happily. He loves to race the GO greyhound and golden doodle in his foster home and happily plays in the autumn leaves. Diddly is very well mannered in the car or on leash walks. Sometimes loud noises startle him so he would probably do best in a home with adults or older children. Diddley is not cat workable.

Additional adoption info

Adopters must fill out an application (available on our website or by mail) and have a home visit before being approved for adoption. Minimum adoption donation is currently $450 (for U.S. dogs) and $700 (for Irish dogs), and an adoption agreement must be completed. All of our greyhounds are spayed/neutered, vet-checked, heartworm tested, have had a dental cleaning and are current on recommended vaccinations. We require all dogs to be kept indoors and leash-walked or let out in fenced areas only. If an adopter can no longer care for his/her greyhound, it must be returned to the care of Greyhound Options, Inc.

Go meet their pets

Meet and Greets are held most weekends of the month at various store locations throughout Western MA, Northeastern MA and Northern CT. Please visit our website for a schedule of events.

We also have 2 special adoption events each year. Please visit our website dates and locations of this year's special events.

More about this rescue

Greyhound Options, Inc. was formed in 1995 by a small group of volunteers devoted to finding loving homes for retired racing greyhounds. We do not operate a kennel, but choose to provide these dogs the stability, care and comfort only possible through a foster home network. Fostering also enables us to truly evaluate the temperament and behavior of each dog in our care, so we can best match adopter with dog. In 2008 we passed the wonderful milestone of placing our 1000th greyhound! As a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, all expenses are covered through donations, and volunteers are always needed. Please contact us if you would like to make a donation of any kind.
