My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Ellie…and you are?? Well, nice to meetcha!!

Have you ever looked up the meaning of your name? I just did, and boy does my name fit. “Ellie” comes from the Greek and translates to “light” or “bright one” and is often given with the expectation that the child (or puppy in my case) would embody the qualities associated with light and brightness -- positivity, joy, and radiance. THAT’S ME!!!!!!

Ok, enough etymology (that’s the origin of words)…let’s talk some more about me! I arrived in Minnesota and am currently staying with a foster family (including their recently adopted Warrior dog). I was pretty nervous when I first met them, but it’s all good now…just know that it does take a little while (and a lot of treats) for me to warm up to new people.
Once I do, my favorite place to be is in your lap…you won’t mind though because I’m super soft and warm. I love to play with toys/kids/dogs (and give lots of kisses)…but bully rubs are THE BEST!!!

I sleep all night in my kennel, but love to take snuggle and take naps on the couch or bed too. I’m good at doing my “business” outside, but only when I’m good and ready…I don’t like to rush these things, so I take my time to pick just the right “spot to squat.”

Anyway, I’m just super excited to have the chance to find a family of my own…could it be yours?

All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.

Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.

More about this rescue

The mission of Warrior Dog Rescue is to save the dogs that are homeless, left abandoned in shelters, are surrendered by their owners, those that are being abused and neglected, and those that are left wandering. We are committed to providing them the medical care they need, helping them to overcome their past by providing them loving, educated foster homes, finding them their perfect forever home by means of a thorough adoption process, and guiding them on their journey into their new life. They all deserve a “good dog life… every single one of them.”

Warrior Dog Rescue will be a model rescue by partnering with overcrowded shelters that need to make room for more abandoned dogs. We will continue to educate others about responsible dog ownership in regards to safety, spay/neuter, nutrition, obedience, socializing, abuse, and neglect. We acknowledge that we will have a role in this industry to take the lead on providing awareness to others in the community and across the country. Every dog will know what it feels like to be loved till the end of their life.
