Why this pet is the one for you:
Adopt Jacko: Your Mission Awaits! Jacko is a 1-year-old Cattle Dog mix with a heart ready to grow in the right home. This young pup has faced a rocky start in life, coming from a multi-dog household without the socialization he needed. Now, Jacko is looking for a family willing to guide him with patience and understanding. Jacko's ideal home is quiet, with children aged 10 and up. He'll thrive in a setting where his world stays small and calm while he builds trust and confidence. A social dog companion at home is strongly recommended to help Jacko learn the ropes. He's still working on leash walking and potty training, so a family ready to guide him with consistency and positive reinforcement is key. To ensure the best start, a meeting with our trainers is required before adoption. If you're ready to help Jacko unlock his potential and become the loyal companion he's meant to be, come meet him today! Your mission awaits!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
