My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Asiago!

Asiago is an 11-year-old beauty with a fluffy, long-haired orange-and-white coat and the most striking emerald green eyes. This sweet boy is looking for a cozy forever home where he can relax and enjoy the finer things in life.

As a true house cat, Asiago prefers the comfort of a warm bed over the excitement of car rides. When you pick him up, he immediately melts into you, clinging on like the affectionate cuddle bug he is. While he's incredibly sweet, his luxurious coat does require some upkeep-weekly brushing at a minimum to keep him looking and feeling his best. He handled his grooming like a champ in our care, even after needing a few matts shaved out.

When it comes to meals, Asiago knows what he likes. While he turned his nose up at our Hill's Science Diet, he happily indulges in Whiskas. His new family should be ready to accommodate his refined palate.

Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.

More about this shelter

Our Mission:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its 36 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services for more than 53,000 homeless, abused, and abandoned animals around the province. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
