My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Alexis! Alexis is an approximately six-months-old female Tabby who was brought to rescue from an outdoor feral colony. A trap/alter/release group had Alexis spayed and realized she was friendlier than the average feral, and would like a chance at a forever family. Alexis is shy at first and will "warn" you with a half-hearted hiss. Go slow (and ignore the hiss haha) and Alexis actually enjoys her head pet, and will close her eyes and start to fall asleep while she's being pet. Alexis will do best with a patient, cat-experienced home that will allow her to blossom on her own time and terms. Alexis LOVES kitty yogurt (like Churu) and that is definitely the way to her heart. She has started coming out of hiding more, to see what we are up to, and recently started feeling comfortable enough to play with the feather toy. Alexis does well with other cats and could potentially be a buddy for your feline at home. Have you been looking to help a special young cat? Come meet Alexis! Email chitownrescue@gmail.com for more info/meet and greet appointment. Alexis' adoption fee includes spay surgery, vaccinations up to date, and microchip.

More about this rescue

"Chi Town" is short for "Chihuahua Town," which is our nick-name because we found that the majority of animals we were rescuing happened to be Chihuahuas and literally have a little “town” comprised of Chihuahuas! Chihuahuas are one of the most over-bred dogs in Arizona and unfortunately many end up in need of rescue. However, we are not limited to saving just Chihuahas, we do save other breeds dependent on availability of space. Chi Town also specializes in rescuing dogs who require a little extra TLC and are at risk of euthanasia at county shelters. These dogs may not be doing well for a variety of reasons- fear, fear aggression, anxiety, or a medical issue to name a few. These are the dogs that typically have no other outlet and for which time is of the essence . After our dogs are medically cleared and/or their behavioral issues have improved, they are available for adoption.

Please be aware that we do our very best to answer all questions in a timely manner.

We are always seeking to help promote these special Chihuahuas who are too often overlooked in AZ shelters due to the sheer volume of this breed. Please share and like us on Facebook:
