My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Carlotta !!

This adorable and sweet puppy is ready for her new home. We recently took in a sweet boy named Phantom who was already adopted. We saw this girl being rehomed and realized it is his sister. So we brought her into the rescue to help her find a safe new home as well.

Carlotta is a 6 month old, Poodle and Lab mix. she weighs 32 Pounds. She will be spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of her adoption. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. She has a minor skin rash on her belly that we are treating.

SHE IS NOT HYPOALLERGENIC. Simply mixing poodle with things does not do that as the doodle trend claims. With that said she does not shed much compared to a regular dog.

Carlotta is very affectionate and sweet. She came to us with a much better foundation of training that her brother did. She has done really well with household behavior and loves everyone and everything.

She has done really well with other dogs of all sizes. She loves to play with them but can be really pushy and eager to play. She would do best with another tolerant and playful dog to match her puppy energy. She is fostered with cats and has done well learning the cats don’t want to play with a crazy puppy and that have claws. She is doing good at realizing it’s much more worth her time to play with the dogs that actually want to play with her. She has not tried to hurt the cats at all it’s just over playful behavior.

Carlotta has not been fostered around children but we think she would do well. She just loves everyone. She is still jumping up on people and learning not to play by chewing on hands. This should be considered if you have young or small children. We do think she would adjust and learn with proper exposure and training.

She is perfect with her crate trained. She has no problem being crated and makes no noise in the crate. She is also great on car rides and just lays down on the back seat. She is doing well with leash training. She can pull at times but not super hard or constantly.

Carlotta has done great with potty training for her age. She has had no more than one accident a day, and sometimes none, while adjusting to her foster home’s routine. She seems to understand the concept and is doing well with it.

So far she has a medium to high energy level. She plays hard and then crashes hard. She is definitely a busy dog and needs things to do to keep her occupied. She is also in the stage of finding anything and everything to chew on.
She will need lots of mental and physical energy in her new home to keep her happy and well behaved. Both poodles and labs are typically higher energy dogs so plan to exercise each and every day more than once.

Carlotta has not had any issues sharing food, treats, or toys with people or other animals. She loves toys, chews, playing and is easy to keep busy/entertained. She was terrified of being picked up when she arrived but she is quickly learning to be okay with it. She will sometimes still squirm and twist around when first picked up but then she enjoys being held.

Overall Carlotta is a really well rounded and wonderful puppy. She has a great personality and is very loving. She would make a great new addition to an active family willing to put in a little more work to perfect her puppy training.

📌📌She will need regular grooming. This requires time to get her to and from the appointments and additional expenses to pay for it. On average a dog of this breed will need grooming every 6 weeks. This should be fully considered prior to applying to adopt her.

Vet and home checks required.

Fenced yard required due to energy level

Located in Hampton VA.
(She will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius)
