My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dame Maggie is pretty reserved, but just needs reassurance that she is loved. Both she and her sister (Judi Dench, also up for adoption) took a long time to decompress from the shelter and while her sister has come out of her shell, Maggie is not as flashy. She is super loyal and protective though and will play with her sister and other dogs, big and small. Maggie does not have food aggression. She has not been tested with cats formally, but she has been known to try to play with the neighborhood cats and run after them (but not in a prey drive way).

Like her sister, Maggie will need help learning boundaries. Rudimentary training will help with this (she does jump and has a hard time "hearing" the word no--she is still a young pup). She is really good with my 8 year old.

My personal opinion is that Maggie is the perfect dog. She is 6 months old but she is not a crazy boisterous pup but very loving and kind.

If you are interested in adopting Maggie, please fill out an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and ask for her by her full name, DAME MAGGIE TX!

More about this rescue

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. For these animals, there is not much hope…except to look in the night sky for the North Star, their only way out. We are a group of passionate volunteers committed to saving these innocent dogs and finding them a new forever home. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals. NorthStar Pet Rescue is IRS 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN: 81-5348036).
