Thor needs YOUR help! Meet sweet Thor! Thor has a very special and sad story. Thor is a handsome Pit Bull and Mastiff mix who is a BIG boy! He came to us after he was found roaming in the middle of no where for weeks so skinny and full of worms. A family picked him up and dropped him off at the general store in Raymond and then that's where we (his fosters) found him. When my husband pulled over he happily jumped in and was so thankful. We quickly learned this senior boy is chipped and was adopted from Stanislaus animal control 6 years ago. The owner was contacted but with no luck he is now looking for his forever home! This boy is pretty perfect and is cat, small and large dog friendly and has been great with my twin 10 month old girls. He is crate trained and doesn't make a peep outside or inside. He also seems to be house trained. He loves the car and LOVES people. He is about 85 pounds now and needs at least another 25-30 pounds to be at a healthy weight! He is SOOO thin! You can see more pictures of that from his profile on our Animal Compassion Team website. He's fixed, chipped and vaccinated and would love a home for Christmas! To adopt a new family member from Animal Compassion Team (ACT), you need to fill out our online application.

All adopted animals will be Spayed/Neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated appropriately, provided a full spectrum de-wormer, and have received a flea/tick preventative. I

More about this rescue

The vision for ACT has been brewing in the minds of the Animal Compassion Team founders for many years. The paths we have walked have prepared us and tested our determination through hard work, buckets of tears, mountains of fecal matter (a favorite topic of discussion amongst animal rescuers), and more than our fair share of discouragement and heartbreak. Having said that, why would we choose to dive in deeper? For the love of the animals we serve. It is just that simple. Dogs, cats, and other wonderful animals are dying in huge numbers daily. We hope to help change that. In August of 2009, we became a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation with California and the Federal Government. It was and continues to be, a huge leap of faith for all of us who already feel overwhelmed by the work we are doing, but we believe this is the time....this is what we have all been preparing for. One life saved makes all the effort and emotional investment worthwhile. This is going to be an exciting journey, and we hope to post MANY happy endings.

To provide a safe haven for domestic animals, regardless of breed or species, through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and sanctuary. To advocate for the humane treatment of animals and promote the human-animal bond. To educate the public about the importance of kindness, compassion, and responsible pet ownership which will emphasize spaying and neutering. To cooperate and work with other animal rescues and shelters towards the goal of becoming a no-kill nation.
