My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET BOWSER! *FeLV positive*

This sweet little tuxie is named Bowser and she's estimated to be around 10! Despite her adorable looks now, Bowser came to City of Elderly Love in a much sadder state. She was found locked on a property, covered in flies and with large burn-like wounds on her paws and chest. She was treated for her wounds while at the shelter but was timestamped for euthanasia due to needing more care. She's healed from her ordeal remarkably and is beginning to really come out of her shell! We'd love to see Bowser find an amazing home where she can experience the love she deserves.

Bowser can be a bit shy while first settling in but it won't take long to win her over and when you do, she'll demand ALL the pets and ear scratches! She seems to be a huge fan of "indoor life" and has made herself right at home in foster care. She is beginning to show us her silly side by playing chase and batting around toys. She also loves to crawl into drawers and patiently wait until you find her. Bowser is currently in foster care with kids and enjoys interacting with them but we think she'd be happiest in a home with slightly older children who will respect her space if she needs a break. Bowser unfortunately tested positive for FeLV which can be transmitted to other cats through saliva so it is recommended she only live with other FeLV+ cats. You can learn more about FeLV here: www.vet.cornell.edu/departments/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-leukemia-virus. Despite her diagnoses, Bowser has healed from her injuries well and is otherwise in good health. She's been fully vetted and has recovered from her stint on the streets. Looking for a friendly, affectionate, and easy-going cat? This one is ready to find the perfect home!

Bowser is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also FIV negative. Interested in adopting her? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!

More about this rescue

Operating as an independent subsidiary of Citizens for a No-Kill Philadelphia, City of Elderly Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to saving and enriching the lives of adoptable senior pets in the Philadelphia area. Utilizing volunteer foster homes, City of Elderly Love aims to rescue these animals from potential euthanasia at area animal shelters as well as prevent older animals from entering the shelter-system in the first place, when possible. City of Elderly Love also provides palliative and hospice care when needed. Through creative marketing and community events, City of Elderly Love works to place its adoptable pets into loving adoptive homes.
