Meet Vanderhoff, a sweet and gentle pup who’s well on his way to building confidence and trust. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was nervous, but he gradually began accepting treats and enjoying gentle pets. He loved exploring and getting his sniffs in during small dog playgroup, where he thrived in the company of other dogs. Vanderhoff even had a spa day to wash off the stray life, and he was calm and relaxed during his bath and nail trim—such a good boy!
In his foster home, Vanderhoff has been a model houseguest from day one. He’s housetrained with no accidents and has been quiet and respectful as a work-from-home companion. He loves to settle a few feet away from his foster mom’s desk, quietly keeping her company for hours. Vanderhoff is also fine being left alone in his crate, where he sleeps soundly through the night (with some adorable snoring!). Though he’s still figuring out what it means to be part of a human family, Vanderhoff has made great progress in just a week. With continued patience and love, he’ll only continue to grow and thrive.
Vanderhoff has an underdeveloped back leg, likely congenital, but he navigates just fine on three legs. He’ll do best in a calm, quiet home with minimal stairs, an experienced adopter, and a well-matched dog friend to help him feel at ease. If you’re ready to help him continue his journey, Vanderhoff may be a great companion for you!
