My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zane and Zander are lively, 9-month-old kittens looking for their forever home!

Both boys have a lot of energy and love running around and playing with each other. They are also extremely loving towards their foster and never stop purring!

These cutie pies are obsessed with toys on the end of sticks and will do midair gymnastics to beat their brother to the prize. When they have exhausted themselves with their wand-chasing antics, these guys then enjoy lounging on a box or people-watching out the window.

Their energy level is consistent with kittens—they’ll go through bursts of energy followed by a good nap or lounge. They do have nightly zoomies around 9:30/10 pm.

Currently these cool dudes live with one young woman in an apartment. She is gone for 10 hours a day, and they have been doing fine on their own. However, they would also enjoy life with humans who are around frequently to help keep them out of normal kitten mischief while showering them with attention.

Zane and Zander would thrive in a home with plenty of space to run around, with a family who enjoys kitten shenanigans and is happy to give and receive lots of attention. The boys’ lustrous medium-length coats will also need some grooming assistance on occasion, to help prevent mats.

They get along great with each other; I have not seen them with other animals, but their previous foster said they did well. They would be good with children but maybe not very young kids—they do still have their claws and sometimes they forget this fact; they also sometimes love-bite when excited, so older children/teens would be best. This pair is active, fun, with plenty of joyful energy to bring to any kitten-loving family.

If that sounds like fun, the adorable Zane and Zander would love to meet you!

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
