Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dodger is a 1-year-old, spunky boy looking for his forever home!
He's a super goofy guy. Most of the time, this sweetheart looks surprised at everything going on around him, as if it's the first time he's ever seen it. But he’s very brave, and charges head on into everything!
This fun dude adores his cardboard scratcher, watching the birds by the window, and then napping on ""his"" blanket. Dodger also loves playing with his foster brother Copper. He can go at it for quite a while and gets super into their games! He has an affinity for catnip toys and will tear them apart if they are not durable enough, or if he gets a hold of them for too long. Dodger especially enjoys interactive toys like the sticks with a string and a feather attached to them.
So long as Dodger has enough space to run back and forth, he'll take advantage of it! He's more active in the morning, and evenings; if he gets at least an of hour or so of active playing time a day, he's happy and content. When he’s not zooming, he loves to just wander around the house and explore!
Dodger has bowed legs, that I was told were from a spinal injury he sustained as a young kitten. He is fully healed, but he still has some sensitivity on the sides of the small of his back, so his forever humans will have to be mindful and extra gentle when touching him there. He is completely mobile, other than a small little skip to his step; however, he will probably require steps to get onto elevated places like higher beds or perching spots. His future family should be okay with providing these to help him live his best explorer life!
This sweet boy is currently staying with 2 adults and 2 other fixed male cats in a single-family house.
An ideal home for Dodger would be with at least one other active, friendly pet (cat or dog) to bond and play with. He warms up well to other cats, and although he was a bit uncertain with the small dog he encountered, he was curious and not aggressive. Kids would be great, too! He is a social guy who loves to be loved and would do wonderfully well in a family home with people who are around a lot, where he can get lots of pets and attention from everyone. He also needs to be an indoor-only cat as he is scared of the outside and had some bad experiences there during his pre-rescue days. It’s exclusively the safe and cozy inside life for him, please!
Dodger is a fun, silly boy who is so ready to give all the love and laughs to his forever family. If you’re ready to hit a home run with a real champion of a cat, please come visit Dodger today!
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.
Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.
Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
