My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little chatter box came to us a little frightened. She was the last of her litter and was more interested in hiding then socializing. Since being here with us, she has really come out of her shell. Although she still is a bit nervous at first, she gains trust quickly and immediately starts purring, rolling and headbutting you for more. Spook has got a lot to say, so be ready for many long conversations. She is interested in other cats and we believe with proper introductions, she will be good with a cat friendly dog.

If she sounds like the purrfect companion for you, please fill out a questionnaire or reach out the the center at 250-509-0297.

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
