Leo is a poodle mix who was surrendered due to his owner`s health. He has lived with other dogs but we suggest he be an only pet due to his resource guarding. Leo is used to living with kids who respect his space and things. He has generalized anxiety, fear of strangers and fear of novel experiences. This means he will need plenty of positive reinforcement throughout his life to help build his confidence and decrease his fear of the world around him.
Being a poodle mix, Leo will need consistent grooming every 4-6 weeks to prevent matting. Leo is not a huge fan of having his face and paws touched/shaved, so talk to your vet about mild sedatives that Leo can take ahead of grooming appointments (and vet visits, too!) to help make the experience less stressful for both Leo and the professional.
Leo has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and been examined by our vet. He was shaved when he came to us so his coat is a clean slate for his new family.
For more information on Leo or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Also, be sure to check out our:
