My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 2 years
Weight: 33.5 kg / 73.9 lb

A bit about Ginger:
- had lived with kids; limited information; kids okay but all interactions should be supervised
- unknown history with cats; introductions should be slow and supervised
- select dogs okay pending successful introduction

Ginger is a sweet young lady whose favourite things in life include sitting in laps and really loud squeaky toys! She loves to make new friends, although it can take her some time to fully trust! Once she trusts you, watch out! Ginger loves to through herself into your personal space for cuddles, and doesn`t seem to realize how much she weighs! Ginger has lived happily with another dog before, and may do well with your pup. She has also lived with kids, and would love some new buddies as long as they are big enough that she won`t knock them over!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
